About
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Perron was recognized by the State of Florida Bar Association as a business litigation specialist, having met the stringent criteria for certification. This certification is exclusively awarded to trial lawyers demonstrating outstanding skill, experience, and knowledge in business litigation. The certification is held by fewer than five percent (5%) of the Florida Bar’s 50,000 members. Mr. Perron was awarded this certification in 1997. Mr. Perron was also designated as “preeminent AV” by Martindale Hubbell.
Throughout his thirty-five (35) years of legal practice, Mr. Perron was engaged in litigation within State and Federal courts in Florida, as well as arbitration and mediation proceedings. He was a valued member in good standing of the Florida Bar, the Federal Court for the Northern, Southern, and Middle Districts of Florida, the Fifth and Eleventh Federal Circuit Court of Appeals, the New Hampshire Bar, the Massachusetts Bar, and the Federal Court for the District of New Hampshire (inactive).
Mr. Perron managed the settlement and/or litigation of Federal and State Court cases involving civil rights violations, broker/customer and broker/company disputes, contract conflicts, creditor actions, and trust and probate disputes. His caseload has included non-competition litigation, multi-million dollar trust beneficiary disputes, will contests, claims against broker-dealers for churning and mismanagement, disputes involving family limited partnerships, collection claims, and other complex business torts and contract claims.
With extensive experience and discerning judgment, Mr. Perron was adept at assessing clients’ situations, employing exceptional experts based on their track record, advising clients on local judicial and jury composition, and supplying clients with the essential information required to make well-informed decisions when pursuing claims or defenses. Mr. Perron tried and settled cases before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority and American Arbitration Association arbitration panels.
Mr. Perron earned his undergraduate degree from Tulane University of New Orleans, Louisiana in 1982, his Juris Doctorate from the University of Quinnipiac Law in 1985, and a Masters of Law in American Banking Law Studies (LLM) from Boston University School of Law in 1989. He held positions as an adjunct law professor at Stetson School of Law in Banking Law Studies (1991) and at Thomas M. Cooley Law School (2014/15). He served as Co-Chairman of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee, which governs the practice of law in Manatee County, Florida, and as member/chair of the Unlicensed Practice of Law Committee. Mr. Perron was also a member director for the Manatee Bar Association and delivered lectures on a wide array of subjects, from Banking to Ethics and Professionalism.
In 1989, Mr. Perron and his wife Nancy relocated to Bradenton, Florida, from New Hampshire. He joined the law firm of Blalock, Landers, Walters & Vogler, P.A. (n/k/a Blalock & Walters), where he focused on complex business and trust and estate litigation. In 1996, he established his own law firm, Ozark, Perron & Nelson, P.A. concentrating on complex business litigation and related matters. Mr. Perron also served as Director of Manatee Junior Achievement and as Director of the Florida West Coast Symphony.
