X-Ray Fluorescence (XRF) Testing

XRF testing: non-destructive lead detection in pre-1978 buildings. Emits X-rays, measures fluorescent response. Fast (seconds), non-destructive, accurate (below EPA 1.0 mg/cm²). FL: federal law requires pre-1978 disclosure + 10-day testing right. HUD/EPA RRP Rule: contractors must comply. FL testers: EPA-certified lead inspectors, risk assessors, and renovation firms. Equipment: calibrated per EPA. Cost: $10-500 residential. Report: surfaces tested, lead content, and assessment.
