FL Writ of Prohibition
FL writ of prohibition: prevents lower court from exceeding jurisdiction. Art. V, Sec. 3(b)(7) and 4(b)(3). vs. mandamus (compels). Appropriate: acting without jurisdiction, exceeding authority, fundamental error. Uses: lack of jurisdiction, excess jurisdiction, judicial disqualification, double jeopardy, and improper venue. vs. appeal: prohibition prevents BEFORE harm; appeal reviews AFTER. Seek when waiting too late. No other adequate remedy required.
